2. Homework
a. Organization - All assignments are written on the board or posted on Edmodo when Chromebooks are in use. It is the student’s responsibility to enter the information into the Chromebook. In the event no homework is listed, 60 minutes of reading is to be completed. 30 minutes nightly is standard. If a student uses homeroom time wisely, many nights are free of paper/pencil assignments and should be used for reading.
b. Educational Research - We attempt to balance the load by working cooperatively with scheduling tests and projects but conflicts do occasionally occur. If your child is having difficulty getting work done in this amount of time, please notify us. We strive to have students complete all work in class with our supervision so family time can be enjoyed. We are parents as well as teachers and want to maintain a healthy balance for everyone.
c. Paper Heading - First and last name, date, and description must be written clearly on all assignments.
d. Absent Work - It is the student’s responsibility to check on Edmodo to see what was missed. Handouts (if hard copies were used) can be obtained from the Absent Work bin. You are responsible for obtaining and completing missing/ absent work. ZAP Schools will be assigned for late/absent work not completed in a timely manner. I am very flexible in the event of emergencies or rare occurrences of tardiness.
e. Missing Work - A ZAP (Zeros Aren’t Permitted) pass will be issued in the event a student develops a pattern of not turning in assignments. If this happens, parents are notified and students are required to stay after school to complete missing work. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday are the three days which this occurs. Students may call home for a ride as soon as the work is complete. The ZAP room will be announced over the p.a. so students know where to attend.
f. Penalty Halls - Penalty halls are assigned for inappropriate behavior but much dialogue is had in class prior to this consequence. Friday penalty halls are used (3hrs long) in chronic cases. Lunch penalty halls or after school penalty halls will be assigned as needed.
